Our generation, who joined NTPC Ltd. during early 80’s of last century, got wonderful opportunity to learn first, because of rapid expansion in infrastructure industries with subsequent breeze of openness after reform and technological uplift during post-globalization.

We were also fortunate to remain in learning curve during our entire service period as our company was continuously growing.

We were part of the growth of our organisation from 0 MW in 1980 to a of 50GW (in 2019) capacity and transition from ‘Subcritical’ technology to ‘Supercritical’ technology and introduction of large renewable solar PV stations.

By this time India’s Installed capacity of Thermal Power also grew from 15 GW. to 225 GW as on 31rst March’20. The number of power generating stations and per-capita consumption (from 175kWh to 1200kWh) also increased many fold.

However, during this period, because of change in business model due to stiff competition, job outsourcing becomes a new norm which has opened up a vast opportunity for the persons having knowledge and entrepreneurship. 

As reliable power station operation needs a lot of knowledge and experience, many organisations also started recruiting experienced persons on term contract basis.

In this scenario, many of our colleagues, took up contract assignment or started freelance consulting.

Few self-motivated experts engaged in freelancing find it difficult to sustain long in getting business and maintaining systems and procedures on their own without organised support system. This is besides self-financing issues.

Many professionals also find it difficult to adjust in long term assignments at remote locations, staying away from family etc.

All these facts makes it convenient to form a collaboration with professional group of experts where individuals, with the help of group, take initiative in marketing, performing and earning with collective responsibility. Part of the earnings goes to the group (company) to meet the administrative expenses and also for growth as well as sustainability of the organisation.

From our experience also, it is felt that the collective wisdom of a professional group can offer a holistic solution and add more value to the client than participating at individual level with specific expertise.

Another benefit of having large pool of experts is the flexibility in accommodating personal commitments and travel issues in a better way without affecting the service to the client.

With the above perspective, we tried to introspect realise and act:

• That those limitations should not put constraints in our desire to provide services to the Industries in a sustainable manner;
• Finally we, a team of ex-NTPC professionals took initiative to create a setup, with the objective of contributing to the Industries with dignity & pleasure instead of taking up stress with post retirement engagement at distant locations or taking up independent assignment.
• We thought of creating an organization to channelize vast individual knowledge and experience of competent and willing ex-colleagues into a collective wisdom to serve industry as a retainer consultant for years to come.
• It can sustain only if a continuous flow of experts from all disciplines join into our fold.

Our dream of setting-up a strong platform that will bridge the gap between Industry and our pool of experts came true with the incorporation of NEWAGE POWER ENGINEERING AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES LLP on 15th Feb, 2019, by 13 Ex-NTPC executives as Promoter Partners with its R.O. at Kolkata. An LLP agreement was signed.

We broadened our base by involving more smart, hands-on experts as our Associate Partners. Similarly, to enrich our organisation, we are inviting experts worked in other reputed organisation, having similar vision, to join us.

Further, we are  increasing our horizon at other parts of the country, as well. To make things easy, we are looking for setting up branches with our ex-colleagues and peers settled in other business places. This will help in roping in more expertise and increase coverage with minimum movement.
